Since the iPhone has been jailbroken there are many apps available. But frankly speaking: very few are of use. I've picked out the ones which are really worth installing.
This app allows you to download Youtube-videos in original quality right on the iPhone. If you are connected via EDGE it is also possible to reduce the quality in order to save bandwith. If you want to download multiple videos they are queued and processed one after another.
There are still some bugs, but most of the time the app works fine.
Yes, the standard calculator which Apple delivers with the iPhone just sucks. MACalc offers many useful functions, for example sine/cosine/tangent, radical and exponential functions, logarithms, multiple memory cells for numbers, calculating with brackets, the number Pi etc. Furthermore MACalc offers a great tool to convert different measurements such as power, pressure, speed, weight, volume etc.
Converter is a really useful tool for converting all kinds of dimension units. Not only is it possible to convert measurements like time/speed/force/length/area/etc but also the app contains some specialties like the size of clothes or currencies (via Internet). The graphical user interface is attractive and it is fun to work with this app.
A simple and practical To do list-app which just works finde. It is possible to sort tasks into a category (eg. "home" or "work"). In addition you can specify a priority for each task from 1 (very important) to 9 (less important).
A program which allows you to dive into the iPhone's filesystem. You can navigate trough directories, set file permissions, rename, delete, copy and paste files, create new files and attach selected files to an email.
A nice app to view PDF files on your iPhone. You have to move them into the folder: Root's Home Dir > Media > PDF (see tutorial).
A must-have: if you aren't using 1.1.3 yet, you can't move the icons on the springboard around. With Customize you can. Also it is possible to change some icons of the operating system.
A small app which turns your iPhone into an AFP server in order to access its file system via Mac (see tutorial).
SysInfo provides information about the hardware you are using, the processes which are currently going on and the accelerometer's current position. With a simple press on a button you can reboot or respring the device.
ScreenShot allowes you to take screenshots of anything you want. It supports JPG, PNG, PDF and TIFF.
A cool app to create folders in which you can put the apps of your choice. It is the only possibilty to avoid a huge mess on the springboard. Although the app is very nicely done I haven't found a way to rename the folders yet.
Wouldn't it be great to see how the weather in London is? Or how does the Eiffel Tower in Paris look at the moment? Locations contains a (small) directory of big cities all over the world to have a look at the latest web cam pictures.
A base app to load all kinds of dictionaries into it.
A very realistic game to improve your billiard skills!
A well done app to draw with you finger. Choose color and thickness of the pen. Afterwards send the finished artwork by the use of Mail.
MusicQuiz brings back on your iPhone what you've been looking for in vain.
A mixture between game and logical thinking. Try to move a ball to its target. Therefore you have to draw objects like ramps in order to let the ball move. The whole playground is subject to the laws of physics (gravitation). There are many levelpacks available.
After you've typed in a word or a sentence it is shown by a nice LED banner passing by the screen.
If you know another useful app don't hesitate to contact me.
